He varied this routine from day to day, alternately using the kitchen entrance and the back patio door. Regardless of his point of ingress, his sensitive nostrils were never assaulted by any telltale odors coming from the basement.

What end, she did not know, nor did she know what would come out of her mouth when she spoke, but this had helped once before. She dialed the number, and waited for the line to be answered. A mans voice answered gruffly. So serious.
