We send current through the LED into the Anode. This is where we connect the positive battery terminal.
An LED is a diode and diodes allow the flow of current in only one direction. This direction is from the Anode to the Cathode. Place the resistor so it lines up with the row that has the Anode on the LED. The other end of the resistor will connect to the positive connector. Current will flow from the positive clips into the resistor. The flow of current is reduced in the resistor and the reduced current flows out the other end. It goes into the clip in the row and into the Anode end of the LED. The image below uses arrows to demonstrate the flow of current.
