И у меня возникла мысль, а как он проявит себя если его поставить против шотландского виски? Идея понравилась, осталось только найти шотландца из одной весовой категории. Недолго думая я выбрал Deanston Virgin Oak. Да всё просто. Тут также не торфяной виски, которой выдерживался в той же комбинации бочек, только в другом порядке. Да и по своему возрасту они достаточно близки. Про оба виски я уже написал подробно в отдельных материалах, и, не затягивая, приступлю к их битве. Дмитрий 27. В интернете встречаются как резко положительные, так и резко отрицательные отзывы о нём. Многим не нравится его мягкий по сравнению с 10-леткой конечно вкус. На мой взгляд это скорее достоинство. Вкус его несколько облагорожен по сравнению с классическим Лафройгом и несколько напоминает например Caol Ila 12. Несмотря на маленькую выдержку 6 лет этот виски несомненно относится к премиум-классу, и я бы расположил его немного выше чем Лафройг 10. Ну собственно он немного дороже и стоит.

Таким образом, в один год может быть несколько золотых, серебряных и бронзовых призёров. И серебряная ачивка нам говорит, что виски не выдающийся, но в целом норм. Пожалуй единственное, что в Акентошане не как у остальных в Шотландии, это тройная перегонка, которая больше характерна Ирландским дистиллятам. Что касается выдержки, то это бочки из под бурбона и хереса. Но как мне кажется, хереса там совсем чуть-чуть, его совершенно не ощущается в запахе и он едва-едва проявляется сладостью во вкусе. Познакомился я с этим виски совершенно случайно - после долгой прогулки в не самую комфортную погоду заскочил в первый попавшийся бар хлопнуть что-то согревающее, выбора в меню практически не было и я решил что вот он момент попробовать что-то новое. И это был чрезвычайно удачный выбор, так как Акентошен идеально подходит на роль виски, который можно "хлопнуть" без эстетского смакования.
