Makar still has plenty of growing to do in terms of learning how to harness and deploy his exceptional talents. His education will be in good hands for his upcoming freshman season at the University of Massachusetts. Sorting out the rest of the top 10 has been a convoluted journey since the initial rankings were published last fall.
Patrick excelled in the WHL playing for the Brandon Wheat Kings, registering 92 goals and 205 points in 163 regular season games with the club. At just 17 years old, Patrick finished eighth in the WHL in goals 41 , tied for third in assists 61 with Barzal, and finished fifth in the league in total points with 102, out pacing players like Braydon Point 88 and Barzal 88 by a wide margin. He is a really good young man.
Patrick would go on to miss his entire third season with the Flyers with what is believed to be a migraine disorder. A real shame as I believe he would have excelled playing under current Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault. In the season leading up to the draft Heiskanen excelled playing against grown men for Helsinki as he recorded 11 goals and 23 points in just 30 games in his second season for the club.

2017 NHL Entry Draft
Впервые в истории под первым номером на драфте НХЛ был выбран швейцарский хоккеист. Regardless of the official lists, however, all teams can agree on barter deals with the Golden Knights and give them additional players or draft options if certain players are selected or not selected in the Expansion Draft. Compared to the NHL Expansion Draft 2000 , the number of protectable players is many times lower because the league wants to ensure the competitiveness of the new team. In the last expansion draft, the teams could either exclude nine forwards, five defenders and one goalkeeper or seven forwards, three defenders and two goalkeepers from the selection process. The selection of the actors to be protected only included players who have been professionals for at least two years - regardless of whether they are in the National Hockey League or the American Hockey League. Players with less than two years of professional experience or talent who have not yet signed up from a previous NHL Entry Draft are not eligible for the Expansion Draft. Players with a no-movement clause NMC in their contract had to be protected by the teams, unless the player voluntarily waived the enforcement of the clause.
The Colorado Avalanche, Vancouver Canucks, Las Vegas Golden Knights and Arizona Coyotes all entered the Lottery with the highest odds to earn a top-three pick, but all dropped down to picks four through seven in the Draft. Here is the full order for the first 15 picks of the 2017 NHL Draft. But the Devils had the greatest odds of winning the top pick out of the three teams that jumped into the top three. The Draft will mark the first time the Devils make the first overall pick in franchise history.
