My character is actually part of the same gang, but he was in a different branch, in China. So, when they brought us over to San Francisco in the story, I had a completely different suit, but the same color scheme. It was loose and flowy and robe-like. And that was it. I loved that costume, but then, as I became more quote-unquote Americanized in the story, and got in with the American branch of the gang, I finally got a new suit. And now I felt very American. And then, if the Chinese character is speaking to an American, we speak English with an accent.
So, I had to learn the Cantonese accent.
