Impressively, he took to the role with nigh immediacy. He ultimately finished with 16 goals and 37 points in 32 games for that Boston College squad who was starving of offensive weapons besides him. It felt like he could have went for 2 points a game if he was really at his best. Then he plays against men at the World Championships, and he scores 9 points in 10 games including 7 goals. He set Team USA records with how many shots on goal he generated.

Where would he, Ersson and Alexei Kolosov stand? Ersson would have a clear leg up on his competition. Now, even if he comes over in 2023-24, he has to make up for lost time against Ersson. That means that Ersson will get at least a couple years to prove he can be an NHL backup or even a 1A before Kolosov even realistically enters the picture. Plus, Ersson looks like a really good young goalie. Really interesting question. So I do believe the underlying theory behind your idea has merit. My general belief with player development is that if a player is ready for the next level, call him up. After all, there will be tricks and maneuvers that work at the collegiate level but will fail against pros. The Flyers can keep an eye on him at Boston College, but not to the degree that they can in the pros, whether in Lehigh Valley or with the Flyers.

I actually met Torts during dev camp two years back. I was super excited and thrilled to meet him and obviously being a big name in hockey and the coaching staff industry, definitely was not against playing for him whatsoever. It was pretty tough to see. People are going to have opinions, people are going to say things. Definitely been a stressful situation the last 48 hours. FlyTogether pic. It was tough to see what they were saying about him, especially when he felt that some of it was inaccurate. Being on social media at all was difficult as well, with his name plastered across every NHL media network.
His draft stock was already rising in the latter part of the season and the fact that NHL teams believe he can play center will only increase it further. He would go on to add another three goals and six assists through six games at the U18 World Championships, earning a silver medal with Team USA. Perhaps more impressive than the goal totals themselves is the variety of ways in which Gauthier was able to find the back of the net throughout the season. He is opportunistic around the net, positioning himself well for rebound chances or backdoor passes. He can beat defenders with strong power moves to the net and he is a dangerous one-touch scorer who can pounce on loose pucks in the slot or hammer one-timers from the faceoff circle. Gauthier was always considered a fairly safe pick due to his projectable frame and well-rounded game but he took his offense to another level this year and could end up being selected in the top-10 of the 2022 NHL Draft as a result. Gauthier is a skilled, active player in the offensive zone who has the ability to beat goaltenders with his powerful, accurate shot.
