To strengthen this workflow, we have some new tools to help with the definition of the analytical model. We can now create curved panels. The curved panel is then created. When defining the analytical model, previously you would need to manually associate this to its physical counterpart, but we now have a new assisted option.
This is, of course, much more efficient and will eliminate mistakes. The physical or analytical model can both be used to build the counterpart automatically. For example, if the engineer has started to build the analysis model in Revit, the technician can then use Dynamo Player to create the physical model based on the analytical model properties. Analytical Loads The loads in previous releases were split into two groups, we had hosted loads and non-hosted loads which could be point, line or area loads. The non hosted loads would not update and would have needed to be recreated when the analytical model updated.
Also, point loads were exceedingly difficult to place in precise locations and had to be done in plan views with workplanes. The new loads in Revit 2024 are now simpler and are always hosted. Each load type has distinct options to assist when placing the load onto the analytical element. For example, the below image shows a point load being placed, and you can place this on an end point or pick a position along the element. When working with loads, the scale can now be controlled via the Structural Settings dialog box.
Here you can set the minimum and maximum load value and set the actual length of the arrows. This is useful to visually check load magnitude. The loads can now also be controlled with view filters which enables parametric floor loading plans, something that many users have been doing with filled regions! So, here are the updates and changes for Revit 2024! In summary, I like the platform changes and the continued effort to make working with sheets, revisions and views easier.
I also like the new workflow with analytical modelling, I am sure that many more engineers will now be able to use Revit earlier in the design process to generate design options. This can then be used by the technicians to develop the model and move into detailed design. Share this:.

But, overall this is a really nice feature and a time saver. Resize All Schedule Rows We always like seeing schedule updates in new Revit releases and this one is a nice one. Revit has added the ability to resize all rows in a schedule. This is going to be nice to quickly adjust the height of the rows all at once. One thing we did notice when we first turned on the feature for All rows is that it took the height of the smallest row in the schedule. In our case, it looked like nothing happened as the rows with larger heights were still the same size as before. A Color Book is a library or book of premade colors that can be quickly added to your material. The new button has replaced the Pantone button on the Color window, but the nice thing is they added all the Pantone colors as Color Books so you will not lose anything.
The one thing we do hope they add soon is a search bar in the Color Books window. They do have a Color field but we have found that you have to be pretty specific for it to work. The nice thing about Color Books is that there are some available out there to download and use since they have been around for so long. Search in Project Browser Once you use this new feature you will wonder what took Autodesk so long to add it. In the Project Browser box, you will see at the top a Search bar. This will allow you to search anything in this property box, incluing all the views, schedules, sheets, families, groups, Revit Links, and basically anything else loaded into the project. The search is super responsive — it will start the search as soon as you start typing and is pretty fast and smooth.
Open Sheet Directly from Drawing Area In the last few years, Revit has added more connections between views and sheets. This year they added another one with the Open Sheet command. If you click on that it will open the sheet the view is placed on.

These models are represented within Revit as lightweight geometry and can be easily navigated. Sub-elements can be selected, and their properties are listed in the Properties palette. If you were paying close attention just now, you might have connected the dots that a Revit model can be linked in as a lightweight model. This might be helpful with specific consultant models. Here is the big news, with this new feature … not only can you link in a Revit model, but you can link different versions of Revit models! For example, your Revit 2024 model can link in a Revit 2022 model without needing to upgrade the 2022 model. This is a brave new world. Figure 3.
However, until now, the local location was not editable. If you have a laptop, for example, with a smaller SSD C: drive, and a larger D: drive, there was no way to point the local BIM 360 storage to the more spacious D: drive. This could easily cause the C: drive to fill up if you worked on several BIM 360 projects or just one mega project. Thanks, Autodesk. Figure 4. New cloud model cache location option in the Options dialog. Templates and Sample Projects Two things that almost always stay the same in a Revit upgrade are templates and sample projects. This year, we lose some sample projects and gain a new template and sample project.
New Imperial Template There is a new multi-discipline template. Previously there were only discipline-specific and systems i. Due to the settings and loaded families required by specific commands and workflows, some tools in Revit would not work correctly depending on which template you started from. With the new all-discipline template, this problem can be avoided. Figure 5. The new imperial template supporting all disciplines. New Sample Model There is a new robust set of sample models which can be used to explore Revit features and model organization. It includes seven linked models and contains phasing and design options.
There is even a point cloud file that can be downloaded separately. One slight downside related to this is that the old sample models are no longer included. So, while this new sample model is a great new resource for those learning Revit, I will miss the easy access to the lightweight residential sample model to open quickly for troubleshooting. Figure 7. Platform There are several new features in Revit 2024 that are not discipline specific.
User Interface The user interface has a number of changes. Most of the icons have been refreshed in support of a new dark theme option. Dark Theme Revit 2024 now has a more legitimate dark theme feature. This new feature can be set to follow the operating system setting. When first used, the canvas area is also set to a dark theme.

This way, you can easily see each revision in your project and make modifications, or directly edit the schedule fields if necessary.

The TopoSolid tool works similarly to the floor tool. You first sketch an extrusion boundary with magenta lines, then you can modify the sub-elements by adding points at specific heights to create slopes. There are six site solids to choose from in the type selector. I added a floor, slab edges, and then a section box , which allowed me to create the detailed view below. Nothing overlapped, YES! You can also change the structure and material of TopoSolids, allowing you to create more complex site elements such as lakes, hills, roads, and more. I can now use voids or floors to cut site models, which makes it much easier to create section views and have lots of printable details in place. This is a great addition that eliminates the need to use floors or other workarounds to create site elements. This view style allows you to view materials with textures without the performance hit of the Realistic view. The Textures view style is ideal for creating presentation-ready views that showcase your design intent and material choices. Shaded visual style. Textures visual style.

I tested the redesigned user interface, site tools, visual styles, analytical views, and linked models from previous versions in a 2024 project. A single template file for all the disciplines. The new sample model, Snowdon Towers, is a mixed-use development that includes residential, commercial and retail space. The model is highly detailed and demonstrates best practices for modeling, documentation, and collaboration. It includes seven linked models, phasing and design options , and a detailed site model created with the enhanced tools from this release. Dark mode applies to all primary UI elements, such as ribbons, palettes, dialogs, and main menus. The canvas viewport background will also be automatically set to a dark or light color based on your UI selection. But not really, because the dark theme does not cover the secondary menus yet.
Hopefully this will be fixed in one of the next hotfixes for this release. I find that the new icons and the dark mode make the interface a lot clearer and easier to use. The TopoSolid tool allows you to create site elements that have depth and thickness, unlike the TopoSurface tool, which only created flat surfaces. The TopoSolid tool works similarly to the floor tool.
Use the Bring to Front or Send to Back buttons to re-arrange the draw order. The visual behavior is fixed and acts correctly now in the family, project, and when printing in Vector or Raster mode. You are now allowed to select multiple views and schedules from within the Project Browser and drag them onto a sheet.
Select multiple Views or Schedules by holding the CTRL button The views will be arranged automatically so they do not interfere with each other. As the order is depending on your Browser Organization, it can still require you to do some adjustments, but it still saves you a lot of clicking and dragging. The Open Sheet function allows you to quickly open the sheet where the view is placed on. With Resize Rows to All, you can set a specific height, and all rows will be adjusted to that height. New options for Schedules that are placed on a sheet Wrapping Up Revit 2024 comes with a lot of nice new features and enhancements which are listed here above. The most notable change is the newly added Toposolid feature that replaces the old Toposurface. This requires you to spend some time exploring how this works.
Overall, Revit 2024 looks fresh with its revamped and modernized user interface, making it also easier to navigate. The new features will improve your workflow to be more efficient and save you some time, such as placing multiple views and schedules onto sheets. Environment 11. This parameter allows you to obtain accurate quantities for each Toposolid instance that requires Cut and Fill takeoff. Once you have these quantities, you can create a detailed earthwork schedule. In version 11. Last but not least, we improved the performance of importing CAD attributes any of them into the corresponding, newly created Revit families, making it easier yet to move all relevant information into Revit. However, as we got to know the new Toposolid well, it dawned on us that we could use the SBT tool to drape and embed Floors as pathways upon and within Toposolids. In V11. Oh, almost forgot. No more confusing pink walls in edit mode.

Теперь это допилили и периметр считается правильно. Если где-то в расчётах используете периметр это очень полезно, не придётся делать дополнительный параметр для ручного добавления таких вещей. Периметр помещения в Revit 2024 Периметр помещения в Revit 2025 Инженерные и конструктивные новинки не стал разбирать, есть по этим разделам более продвинутые эксперты. Подводя итоги, для релиза новой версии конечно мало. На мой взгляд стоящих всего 3 изменения: Коллекции листов, Массив, Периметр помещения. Очевидно что изменений на полноценную новую версию копится за 3 года, а не за 1.
Рисунок 8. Большинство иконок обновлены, а браузер проекта полностью обновлен. Темная тема В Revit 2024 появилась более законная функция темной темы. Эта новая функция может быть установлена в соответствии с настройками операционной системы. При первом использовании область холста также устанавливается на темную тему.

Безопасность макросов Revit Макросы теперь отключены по умолчанию для повышения безопасности, как показано в диалоговом окне Revit Options ниже. Изменение размера всех строк расписания Когда расписание на листе выбрано, в палитре свойств теперь есть несколько опций для управления высотой и поворотом строк на листе.

Расписание пометочных облаков Пометочные облака теперь можно планировать. Это включает возможность планирования сопутствующей информации, такой как имя листа или вида, на котором размещается облако.

Изменяемые диалоговые окна Существует более 20 существующих диалоговых окон, которые были усовершенствованы для возможности изменения размера. Несколько примеров: "Идентификаторы элементов выделения", "Начальный вид", "Вставка 2D-элементов" и другие. Рисунок 18. Пример диалогового окна с возможностью изменения размера. Сортировка параметров проекта в свойствах Теперь параметры проекта сортируются в алфавитно-цифровом порядке в диалогах свойств экземпляра и типа.
Параметры семейств не изменились по сравнению с предыдущим поведением. Архитектурная дисциплина Архитектурная дисциплина имеет несколько новых возможностей и порадует многих архитекторов и дизайнеров. Стиль представления «Текстуры» В Revit появился новый стиль представления под названием "Текстуры". Я был в бета-группе пользователей этого стиля. Он представляет собой нечто среднее между затененным и реалистичным.
Он показывает текстуру внешнего вида объекта, но без глобального освещения, поэтому материалы имеют одинаковый цвет на всех поверхностях и под любым углом. В этом режиме можно включить окружающие и солнечные тени, как показано в примерах ниже.

Improved Dynamo 2. This menu makes it easier to create input nodes; it recommends nodes that you can use as inputs. Hardware acceleration for Dynamo..
It ensures better performance; you can find this option in the Preferences dialog, Visual Settings tab, and it is enabled by default. In-product node documentation. This feature enables you to view node documentation in a side panel directly in Dynamo instead of in an external browser.
Improved Dynamo Player. Dynamo Player provides the Issue Viewer to displays warnings. Dynamo Player provides the Graph Dependencies to display missed packages.
Improved cloud worksharing Cloud-enabled coordination. Link a collaboration models and views from Autodesk Docs into your current Revit project for coordination purposes. No need to download the file to the local disc.
Change the cloud model cache folder in the local disk.
Family parameters are unchanged from previous behavior. Architectural The architectural discipline has several new features and will make a lot of architects and designers happy. Of course, we will all have wishlist items not found in the update.
Be sure to head to the Revit Ideas site and make sure you post or vote for enhancements you want. Here is an example of a much needed enhancement to the Bind Revit Link Revit Idea that would maintain phases — most do not realize that all phase settings are lost when you bind a Revit link until they need to do it! Textures View Style Revit has a new view style called Textures. I was in the beta user group for this one.
It is a cross between shaded and realistic. It shows the appearance asset texture but without global lighting, so the materials are a consistent color on all surfaces and at all angles. It is possible to have ambient and sun shadows on in this mode as shown in the examples below. Figure 19.

Sun settings on ribbon When running a solar study, the sun settings are now presented on the ribbon as shown below. Clicking the sun setting button opens the traditional sun settings dialog with the same settings. Another enhancement includes the ability to select much shorter time increment options.

Site tools Looking at the massing and site tab below, you will notice a lot has changed. The site tools represent the most significant change in Revit 2024 for architects, which is both exciting and a little scary! We now have a toposolid command rather than a toposurface. As the name change implies, the ground is now represented by solid geometry rather than a 2D surface.
This is the exciting part. Missing from the ribbon below is the building pad command, which is the scary part — I will explain this in the next section. Figure 24. Comparing Revit 2024 site tools to previous versions.
Toposolid Replaces Toposurface Although the toposurface and building pads are no longer available, they are preserved when a model is updated to Revit 2024. Those elements can be modified and copied. You just cannot create new instances as the commands are gone. Figure 25 shows a toposurface and building pad after an initial model upgrade.
Figure 25. Example of a pre-Revit 2024 toposurface and building pad. To convert a toposurface, select it and follow the steps shown in Figure 26. Step 2 involves selecting a toposurface family type that can have several surface characteristics preset.
Figure 26. The steps to upgrade a toposurface to a toposolid. The toposurface is not deleted as this would delete the building pads which need to be recreated manually. Since there is no building pad tool, Autodesk recommends that an in-place mass set to cut the toposolid be created, as shown in Figure 27.
This provides a lot more options, like tunnels and sloped edges. The biggest challenge is that the workflow is not as intuitive for the average Revit user, in my opinion. Figure 27. The suggested replacement for the building pad tool is an in-place mass void.
