Logitech G733 headphone review
The headset drummed up immersive soundscapes in current favorite games like Elden Ring that had me glued to the action. As Hollywood director Steven Spielberg has alluded to in the past, sound and music can make up more than half of communicating a story, and that rang true for me in my playtesting—especially watching cut scenes that the G733 really did justice to. But those first impressions were just a warmup really, because the spatial audio was even more impressive. On the upside, DTS has a higher bit rate than Dolby Atmos, and has consequently become somewhat of a favorite among audiophiles and pro gamers. Indeed, comparing my games library with a list of supported titles only revealed a few matches—like Metro Exodus and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. My ears touch the inside of the cup! Ordinarily, this is not an issue with on-ear headsets or noise-cancelling headphones, but the ear cups in the Logitech G733 Lightspeed feature a texture on the inside that is, simply put, uncomfortable. Wearing the headset for the usual one or two-hour gaming session is dandy, going any longer, however, results in an extremely uncomfortable feeling on the top part of my ears. As with other Logitech headsets, the G733 Lightspeed controls can be found on the left ear cup. Controls include a mute button, a volume wheel, and a power button. The reason I explicitly mention that it is a USB-C charging port is simple: the headset is purely wireless and only uses the cable to charge. This means that the headset requires a USB dongle, which is included in the box, to be connected at all times if you want to use it. This is perhaps the strangest functionality of the headset. It not only limits its use to one or two platforms, but it also ensures it cannot be used while on the go it has no 3. Thankfully, the detachable mic connects on the front of the left ear cup and is easily removed. It must be noted that Logitech sells additional pop filters with funny shapes and bold colours in case you want to liven up your streams… or something. In terms of how it sounds, the Logitech G733 does perform amicably. Passive sound isolation is pretty much non-existent, but that is not what this headset is about. It is a lightweight headset that lets you wander around your house up to 20m while listening to your teammates argue about who the imposter is, and it does so while being as light as possible. It does sound good and maintains an accurate representation of sound with a mostly flat response line and slightly raised highs and lows. Considering the mic performs as excellently as you would expect from past Logitech offerings, it is difficult to grasp what being Discord certified means. With that said, the mic does a decent job, and is further enhanced by the Blue VO!

The headset comes in a professional yet predictable black color scheme. Even the Shroud variant is limited to a few blue accents on the ear cup. You get large and deep ear cups that should fit most ear sizes and shapes. The Logitech G733, on the other hand, banks on its lightweight form for comfort. However, the adjustable suspension strap headband cannot be adjusted continuously — you only get two notches — leaving users with no option for a custom fit. Its ear cups, too, although lined with dual-layer memory foam that contours around your face, do not rotate. These wireless headsets feature a range of controls as well as powerful Pro-G drivers. After all, clear and crisp audio can help you as a gamer better react to sound cues in a game. Now the G733 and Pro X deliver a pretty well-balanced sound profile. The hybrid mesh construction of the Pro G drivers on both headsets helps reduce distortion for a richer and more cinematic sound quality. Between the two, however, the Pro X seems more adaptable. Its 50mm driver really takes it up a notch by lending that extra punch to the bass, making it also great for listening across a wide range of music genres. With the G733, the bass feels a little underwhelming at times.

Playing God of War on PS4 was still a very enjoyable experience, but there were occasions where I felt I would be better without the headset, since the sound would sometimes jump or stutter if there were numerous audio effects happening in the background. The experience through my PC was different. I also dipped into Papers, Please, where the audio was clear and crisp. There were no issues with delays on PC, and tonally, I always felt everything displayed great balance. In addition, the headset remained connected throughout, even if I left the room thanks to its 20-metre wireless range, which is something I appreciated. The G733 also impressed when listening to music. Unlike the G335, this headset displayed no issues with bass. Bass-heavy music never sounded confused or muddled; in fact, I think this headset is capable of handling all genres of music well. The bundled detachable microphone worked perfectly throughout my time with the G733; there were no connection issues when it was being plugged in, and my voice was always clear on Zoom calls and over Discord.
