Discover What's New in Autodesk Revit 2024.2: Enhancements, Integration, and Features Update
It shows the appearance asset texture but without global lighting, so the materials are a consistent color on all surfaces and at all angles. It is possible to have ambient and sun shadows on in this mode, as shown in the example below ambient shadows are on. Previously, the only way to see the texture was to turn on Realistic, which is way too slow, and that is what we have Enscape for! The site tools represent the most significant change for architects! We now have a toposolid command rather than a toposurface. As the name change implies, the ground is now represented by solid geometry rather than a 2D surface. Missing from the ribbon below is the Building Pad command.
Instead, users will now create an in-place mass element that can have sloped edges or define a tunnel, and then use the Cut Geometry tool against it and the toposolid. One great thing about this for Enscape users is that slabs and walls must be cut from the toposolid. This means that there will never be grass inside the building coming through a floor slab or coming through a sidewalk again in Enscape. There are also opportunities to sweep profiles along the surface to create curbs, for example. Here is an in-place mass with a sloped edge. The old building pad option only resulted in vertical edges.
Here is an in-place mass creating a tunnel within the toposolid. This was not possible in previous versions of Revit. Cut geometry enhancement With the advent of the toposolid feature, there have been enhancements to what kind of elements can be used to cut other elements.
And maybe you want a water toposolid without any contours. In this example, the toposolid is cut to accommodate the foundation wall and footing. The volume of the toposolid accurately reflects the substraction of the these elements. This can be use to create curbs.
You cannot use this tool on subdivisions, or on very complex shapes. If someone from Autodesk is reading: please fix this! It would be great to place the slab edges on sub-division. Meanwhile, you can use the railings tool to create curbs. Since toposolids are similar to floors, you can switch the composition entirely and have lakes, concrete pads, and other site components while keeping the original topography points. Be careful, though. You can use them on the new toposolid category.
In Revit 2024: You can use the same Graded Region tool on toposolid. These are quite helpful. Be careful: Apparently, these values are not always accurate. If the sketch boundaries of the new toposolid are different, the calculated volumes will not be correct. Activate the preview this way: You can see the difference when the option is active. Revit их сам раскидает, потом нужно будет руками поправить и готово. Если вид размещён на листе, то можно нажать по нему правой кнопкой мыши в диспетчере и выбрать команду «Открыть лист» — Revit откроет лист с этим видом. А ещё можно перенести виды с листа на лист новая команда в контекстом меню по правому клику на виды в пределах листа в диспетчере. Менять цвета и особенно создавать материалы будет проще. Экспорт типа данных «Типоразмер семейства» Раньше приходилось руками прописывать имя параметра, тип данных OTHER и значение, а теперь поправили, и параметр сам корректно выгружается из редактора. Архитектура Топотела вместо топоповерхностей Название говорит само за себя: вместо поверхности мятый лист бумаги появились тела нормальный рельеф. Но есть куча приятных мелочей, вроде вырезания полостей наконец-то! И посмотрите видео выше, там Ковылин показывает нюансы. Новый визуальный стиль Я уверен, что эта фишка нужна именно архитекторам, и могу точно сказать, что это удобно. Вадим любезно сделал сравнение вариантов графики: Новый стиль — в нижнем левом углу. Для меня так же важно что теперь при редактировании вершин отображаются горизонтали! Теперь хоть работать с топотелом можно. Добавили ещё возможность создавать топотела по Форме, как крыши и перекрытия ХЗ зачем , кнопку упростить топотело не тестировал продолжает ли он упрощать сам при создании по точкам , и переключение отображения сглаженного рельефа и «гранённого» 9. Редактор материалов Говорят ускорили отрисовку миниатюр, засекать и сравнивать не стал, ну может немного быстрее стало. И добавили возможность с шифтом выделить несколько материалов и скопом их удалить, при чистке проекта или семейства полезно. Автоматическое соединение и блокировка стен при создании Добавили соответствующую галочку. Вроде да может быть полезно, но галочка не решает проблему автоматического присоединения торцов стен друг к другу эффект виден на картинке , а следовательно лучше в отдельном файле делать отделку.
Периметр помещения Напоследок ещё одно очень полезное изменение. Раньше периметр помещения считался некорректно, если внутри помещения есть колонны или стены, площадь считается правильно, а периметр нет — не учитывает их. Теперь это допилили и периметр считается правильно. Если где-то в расчётах используете периметр это очень полезно, не придётся делать дополнительный параметр для ручного добавления таких вещей.

Sorting of Project Parameters in Properties Project parameters are now sorted alphanumerically in the instance and type properties dialogs. Family parameters are unchanged from previous behavior. Architectural The architectural discipline has several new features and will make a lot of architects and designers happy. Of course, we will all have wishlist items not found in the update. Be sure to head to the Revit Ideas site and make sure you post or vote for enhancements you want. Here is an example of a much needed enhancement to the Bind Revit Link Revit Idea that would maintain phases — most do not realize that all phase settings are lost when you bind a Revit link until they need to do it! Textures View Style Revit has a new view style called Textures.

Sun settings on ribbon When running a solar study, the sun settings are now presented on the ribbon as shown below. Clicking the sun setting button opens the traditional sun settings dialog with the same settings. Another enhancement includes the ability to select much shorter time increment options. Figure 22.

Site tools Looking at the massing and site tab below, you will notice a lot has changed. The site tools represent the most significant change in Revit 2024 for architects, which is both exciting and a little scary! We now have a toposolid command rather than a toposurface. As the name change implies, the ground is now represented by solid geometry rather than a 2D surface.
This is the exciting part. Missing from the ribbon below is the building pad command, which is the scary part — I will explain this in the next section. Figure 24. Toposolid Replaces Toposurface Although the toposurface and building pads are no longer available, they are preserved when a model is updated to Revit 2024. Those elements can be modified and copied. You just cannot create new instances as the commands are gone.
Figure 25 shows a toposurface and building pad after an initial model upgrade. Figure 25.

I added a floor, slab edges, and then a section box , which allowed me to create the detailed view below. Nothing overlapped, YES! You can also change the structure and material of TopoSolids, allowing you to create more complex site elements such as lakes, hills, roads, and more. I can now use voids or floors to cut site models, which makes it much easier to create section views and have lots of printable details in place. This is a great addition that eliminates the need to use floors or other workarounds to create site elements. This view style allows you to view materials with textures without the performance hit of the Realistic view. The Textures view style is ideal for creating presentation-ready views that showcase your design intent and material choices. Shaded visual style. Textures visual style. I find it very helpful to be able to create high quality images of my model without having to spend too much time or resources. This is a simple but handy feature that can save you time and clicks when creating sheets. Drag and drop the selection to a sheet.

In Revit 2024, with the introduction of the Toposolid , Autodesk has addressed this inconsistency and also given its site tools a significant, much-needed makeover. However, there are still quite a few gaps, some more substantial than others. Environment 11. But overall, Autodesk did a good job. The most significant changes are with the site tools. Toposurfaces are gone, replaced with Toposolid. Overall, this is excellent news. However, there are a few quirks with the new site tools that I hope get resolved. There is also a new default template, a fantastic sample model, and UI improvements. Dynamo and the Dynamo Player keep getting better. Finally, there are dozens of small changes to improve the usability of various tools. This post covers General and Architecture features.
Specific MEP and Structure improvements are mentioned, but the complete notes are available on Autodesk blog post. Toposurface have been killed and replaced by Toposolid. The Subregion tool has been replaced by Sub-Divide. The way you create site elements is completely different. The following pages are going to cover these significant changes. What if floors and toposurfaces had a baby together? The new toposolid tool works in a very similar way to floors. First, you need to sketch an extrusion boundary with purple lines. Then, you can modify the Sub Elements in a similar way to Roofs and Floors. Add points at specific heights to create the slopes.
The points contextual menu is a bit different from the standard floors and roofs you are used to.
In Revit 2024 we can now move views between sheets and keep alignments and positions. The best feature is being able to add a revision to multiple sheets. Multiple views can now be moved to other sheets either by selecting the views or simply dragging and dropping from the project browser. Revision clouds can now be scheduled which, again, has been a long-standing request from users. The revision schedule can be created in a similar way to any other schedule. However, we now can schedule fields from the Revision, Sheet, View and the Project Information which is useful when issuing sheets. Structural Updates As in the previous release, the focus remains on the workflows and toolsets with the analytical modeling process. Also, we see some strengthening of the reinforcement tools with the addition of bending details and alignment control when using freeform rebar. I will also look at the update from Revit 2023.
Loads have been overhauled and the older non hosted loads have been replaced with parametric, intelligent Point, Line and Area loads. These new tools are easier to use and increase accuracy and predictability when creating loads in Revit. Reinforcement Let us begin with the new features and updates with reinforcement. I will begin with the Bending Details which will be especially useful for non-standard rebar shapes. Here in the UK United Kingdom we only tend to detail non-standard shapes and only show these details in the bending schedule, but I know that other countries have a requirement for bending details on all rebar. Bending Details are created as true vector geometry and, as such, will update and change automatically if the host rebar is amended. Bending details can be placed in views by selecting the reinforcement bar and then selecting the Bending Detail command from the context ribbon. The detail can then be placed in a free location, or you can use the Align to Bar command to keep the detail orthogonal. The Bending Detail is driven by standard Revit Type properties and, as such, you can have multiple types that you can use in different situations. The Bending Details also make use of Revit dimension styles so you will need to setup a couple of dimension styles to support the Bending Detail tools.
You can also configure the amount of detail that is displayed within the bending detail. For example, you could simply show the segment length dimensions or recover all the dimensions and angles for each segment as well as hooks and linear dimensions. There are also a few options around the unfolding or offsetting of Bending Details. When you have shapes such as links that overlap it could be confusing when showing lengths and angles of the hooks.
