Upshaw, the five-time All Pro guard, hooked the rookie by extending his arm and knocked Weathers off his feet. Stabler and Weathers were both rookies under Madden in 1970. Raymond describes Weathers as sensitive, but in the best of ways. But Carl is a sensitive human being. He cared about his fellow teammates. So, yeah, he was sensitive. Very sensitive. But not in a sense that it limited him from having the kind of aggressive approach to being a great football player.
I give him incredible credit and kudos. A bloodied Creed collapses in the ring after taking a vicious beating, twitches and is cradled by Rocky as he dies, inevitably setting up a fight between Drago and Rocky. Smart as hell. Loyal as hell. Funny as hell.
I had the great honor of having Ahmed Best return to the Star Wars universe, creating a moment that people really loved — seeing him and Grogu together, that was perfect. I love what Ahmed brought to it, it was a great example of how you offer the opportunity to give a great performance and you can have success. My initial response would be — in a selfish way — that I would love to direct a movie that centers around Greef Karga, covering his journey as High Magistrate of Nevarro. Those elements would be fantastic to put into one screenplay to see where Greef Karga ultimately winds up. But it would be cool to see him as a youngster. Diving into those formative teenage years, watching him learn both bad habits and good ones.
He served on the Directors Guild of America board and various committees, helping others navigate the job. He died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024. Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend.
