Авторы предполагают, что по мере обретения жизненного опыта респондентки сталкивались с трудностями, что может усиливать у них желание отвлечься от реальности. Однако она не подтвердилась. Мотивы не связаны с направлением обучения. Обильно читающие от 21 дня в месяц и больше — поклонницы текстов макси, направленности «слэш» и «джен», рейтингов NC-17 и NC-21.
