The Code initially focused on liquefied natural gas LNG , but work is now underway to also consider alternative fuel types. Having noted the overwhelming support for the proposal, the MSC agreed to new output on "Development of a safety regulatory framework to support the reduction of GHG emissions from ships using new technologies and alternative fuels", to be added to the MSC agenda, starting with MSC 108.
