It seems Riot missed Ohmwrecker so they decided to bring it back somewhat with Volibear. In addition, it empowers Volibear in some way, giving him a ton of bonus health, with perhaps other stats too. Throughout the live-stream, they showed each of his skins and the updated versions.

For current Volibear players, he has a lot of similarities to his current version, which should make the transition relatively easy and rewarding. New players will enjoy him too for his strong, bruiser kit and awesome looks. To end it all off, Riot posted a bunch of dates and different times for each region.

Nearby enemies are slowed for one second, and anyone underneath Volibear when he lands is dealt a massive amount of physical damage scaling with both AD and AP. The disabling of turrets allows you to tower-dive early on in the game, and the slow stacks with your E as well. He has changed from a niche pick engaging tank to just a solid almost-juggernaut-like frontline. Keeping your distance from Volibear will help you proactively counter him more easily. You should not fight Volibear in close combat at level 3, you should poke him from afar. Volibear will increase in strength in the middle of the game, avoid going alone into areas with Volibear.

So the more Volibear farms in the jungle, the more Maximum Health he will get. Flash Smite For summoner spells, Flash is a must on most champions.
He also gains bonus health during the leap.
Riot also gave fans a first look at his upcoming skin called the Thousand-Pierced Volibear, which sports a dark, purple aesthetic. The E — Sky Splitter is a ranged ability that deals massive damage. And when cast, Volibear creates a circle of lightning that damages everyone in it.
