Весь этот вычурно-адский карнавал в пёстро-тёмных тонах ночной вечеринки напоминает милые бюджетные фильмы ужасов годов 90-х. Кстати, вваливать огромные деньги в «Хэллфест» было и незачем. Антураж, который мы видим — вечеринка, выполненная в стиле преисподней. Вокруг скоморохи в страшных костюмах, всяческая кровавая бутафория и посреди неё наши герои-подростки — типичные представители своего возраста с вечным желанием расслабиться любыми способами. Сюжетом предопределено, что действие будет происходить вокруг этакой «мишуры». Вечеринка, хоть и дорогая — всего лишь вечеринка, и этим многое объясняется.
Да вот только не про нашу душу они здесь. Они здесь, во-первых, часть карнавальной обстановки адский праздник как-никак , во-вторых, как некое противопоставление реальному злу в лице маньяка, забредшего, поди и неслучайно, на это пиршество. Всё же террор, устроенный психопатом для узкого круга лиц, не являет собой масштабы, соизмеримые с самим праздником ада. Кое-где убийства происходят и прилюдно, но видит и понимает это опять же узкий круг. Всеобщей паники не будет. По большей части расправы перенесены в мрачные безлюдные закоулки.
