При этом параллели между драфтом 2023-го и 2017-го можно проследить и в другом. Ведь в последний раз именно шесть лет назад во втором раунде был выбран лишь один россиянин.
Тем более кумиром в детстве Сергея Бобровского был именно Вадим Тарасов. Первый русский выбор «Вегаса» и падение Попугаева Возвращаясь к Устименко, он был вторым вратарём сборной России на последнем ЮЧМ, где россияне взяли первые за шесть лет медали. Основной голкипер той команды Максим Жуков узнал свой клуб в начале четвёртого раунда.
Новичок лиги «Вегас Голден Найтс» остановился на воспитаннике ярославского «Локомотива». Для команды из «города грехов» Жуков стал первым российским выбором на драфте НХЛ в истории. В один момент во время сезона ему прочили место в первой десятке, но вторая половина всё подпортила. Его резюме интересно тем, что пару лет назад он выступал в словацкой лиге. Последним был Денис Паршин в 2004 году. Клубы смирились с тем, что россияне будут приезжать в Северную Америку, но некоторых придётся подождать, а лучше потратить свой пик на одного молодого талантливого парня сейчас. Из российских клубов московское «Динамо» поставило больше всего хоккеистов на этом драфте.
Под 205-м номером «Дэвилз» забрали защитника Егора Зайцева, а самым последним россиянином стал форвард Иван Чехович, который также занимался в динамовской школе, но год назад уехал в Северную Америку. Права на Чеховича теперь у клуба «Сан-Хосе Шаркс», который три года не выбирал россиян на драфте.

At 21-years-old, the Power Forward is already a speedster, a brute, and a master marksman. The right-shot winger can score from anywhere with his 93 wrist and slap shot accuracy, as well as the 94 slap and wrist shot power.

Зато рослый Галиев приучился работать на команду и адаптировался окончательно в Северной Америке, непринужденно разговаривает по-английски. У большинства скаутов и экспертов Станислав входил в топ-30 или хотя бы топ-40 до драфта. Каким образом «Кэпиталс» забрали его 86-м — загадка. Ближайшие два года Галиев проведет наверняка вне «Вашингтона», потому что свободных позиций в третьем звене под него не предвидится, да и для игры в НХЛ скауты рекомендуют ему поработать на тренажерах. Главный скаут «столичных», кстати, заикнулся, что Галиев может справиться с ролью центрального нападающего, но и там плотность будет немалой, учитывая наличие в системе Юханссона и Кузнецова. Галиев — между прочим, друг Кузнецова, это плюс к потенциалу.

The team was widely expected to be targeting a forward with the pick, however, at the time, Max Comtois, who had been ranked as high as the top-10, has seen his stock drop all the way out of the first round. In hindsight, Comtois was in fact worthy of a first-round pick, however, just falling out of the top-10. Despite being moved out of the desert and onto colder pastures, Suzuki is well on his way to proving his value at the NHL as a rookie with the Canadiens. Original Pick: Cal Foote The Lightning desired a defenseman to slide into their top-four with the 14th overall selection. With several blueliners projected to go in the second half of the first round, Al Murray opted for Foote. The Kelowna Rockets product tallied three more points than Henri Jokiharju in his draft year, but the latter has begun his professional career on a more intriguing note. Original Pick: Erik Brannstrom After losing draft stock in the weeks leading up to the draft, Nolan Patrick maintained his draft value and was selected by the Flyers in the two-hole. Nonetheless, he is currently forecasting as a satisfactory middle-six center, value worthy of a 15th overall pick. Original Pick: Juuso Valimaki Few players recognition has grown as much over the previous twelve months than the Blue Jackets forward Bemstrom. That being said, what fun would it be if we only had one player jump 100-spots in our re-draft.
Batherson was worthy of a first-round draft-pick, and Boston would be as good a team as any to make the pick. Original Pick: Robert Thomas With Thomas being selected 13 picks earlier in our re-draft, the Blues find themselves in a difficult spot in attempting to find any kind of an equivalent.
However, scouting new talent never stops and with this in mind we turn our attention towards the talent that will be available in the 2017 NHL Draft. It may be early and there is still a full year of hockey to be played, likely leading to a lot of movement between these rankings and where players end up at the end of next season, but still lets take a look and preview the 2017 NHL Draft. It may not have the hype that accompanies Auston Matthews and Patrik Laine , but there will be plenty of talent available. A natural sniper, he has a tremendous wrist shot and quick release, as well as the quick, soft hands to bury chances in close to the net. His game is incredibly mature for his age, he has high end hockey IQ and always seems to make the right play both with and without the puck. Patrick has excellent vision and passing skills. He can play both the power and the finesse game. Patrick works well down low, using his big body to shield the puck and to make plays in the cycle game.
He also plays a strong two-way game, and is even used to kill penalties. Patrick had 41 goals and 102 points in 71 games for the Wheat Kings last season. He moves well both forwards and backwards, with excellent speed and acceleration. He also has very good edgework and pivots. As such he can cover a ton of ice. He can make offensive plays rushing the puck, or pinching in at the blueline; but still has the speed to get back defensively. Liljegren has the poise and smarts to quarterback a power play. He has excellent vision, and makes good passes to set things up at the line. He can also make the long breakout pass to hit a teammate streaking through the neutral zone. He uses it to get in on the fore check and cause problems for defenders.
He uses his size to shield the puck and maintain possession in the cycle game, and uses his powerful stride to fight through checks and drive the net. Vilardi has a very long reach and excellent puck handling ability. He uses these assets to extend plays and wait for teammates to get open, before hitting them with a pass. Vilardi is constantly moving and getting involved in the play. He is extremely gritty and involved in battles along the boards, and in front of the net. The power forward prospect also has a very good wrist shot. With Windsor hosting the 2017 Memorial Cup , there will be plenty of opportunities to show off his skills to the scouts. He put up 17 goals and 38 points in 62 games last year. He has an excellent array of shots, with good power and accuracy on his wrist shot, snap shot and slap shot. A sniper, Comtois has a very quick release that can handcuff opposing goaltenders.
He also has excellent vision and passing skills.
Returning in January, Patrick still managed to finish fifth on the Wheat Kings in scoring with 20 goals and 46 points despite playing in just 33 games. However he suffered another health setback late in the regular season - an unspecified upper-body injury - and missed the WHL playoffs. Nolan Patrick would be the first Manitoban selected first overall in the NHL draft - with Nico Hischier set to become the first-ever Swiss-born player. A third option emerged for New Jersey this spring at the U18 WJC where defenceman Miro Heiskanen turned in a commanding performance for Finland and effectively threw his hat into the ring. Heiskanen would be the first Finnish-born player to go first overall. Gabriel Vilardi of the Windsor Spitfires.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound forward led Windsor with 29 goals and 61 points - in just 49 games - and then played a central role in helping the Spitfires win the Memorial Cup, highlighted by a four-assist performance in a win over the top-ranked Erie Otters. Big, highly-skilled, and ultra competitive, Vilardi brings plenty of meat to the plate - but the skating has raised concerns about how impactful an NHLer he can be. The Kingston, Ontario native can play on the wing but showcased at the Top Prospects Game in January that he is very effective playing in the middle. The fifth-ranked prospect is Casey Mittelstadt, the top American-born player. Mittelstadt ripped apart the high school circuit averaging 2. He fell short though of leading his hometown Eden Prairie to a state championship, falling in the semi-finals.
At the time, however, the team was in the market for improving their team from the back, out. Like some others, Fleury could climb this list even more, but to be safe, 21 is a good spot. He still may have a future in the NHL but at this time, yet Poehling seems like more of a sure thing, at least for a middle-six role. The actual seventh-overall selection drops sixteen places to the Coyotes — the team whose pick he was actually selected with. Original Pick: Kristian Vesalainen Casey Mittlestadt is yet another example of the premature hype that began to surround the 2017 NHL draft class approximately a year after the draft. With such an uncertain top 5, it seemed as if many people were eager to crown a group of more worthy players. Despite possessing an apparent valiant work-ethic and strong lower-body, his success in both the Finnish Liiga and the KHL have not translated to North America. For all the uncertainty surrounding his current trajectory, this seems like an appropriate spot for Vesalainen. While the team is already rich with young talented defensemen in John Klingberg and Miro Heiskanen , the early second-round selection, Conor Timmins would look good in a Stars uniform. Tippett is making his way in the AHL, and looks like he still certainly has a positive and productive future in the NHL. Original Pick: Shane Bowers In his rookie professional slate with the Colorado Eagles, Shane Bowers is off to a modestly productive pace, although the Avs would likely be a tad happier to have another NHL calibre defenseman in their arsenal. Original Pick: Henri Jokiharju The Blackhawks have begun to restock their forward depth since the 2017 Entry draft, however, if they had been unable to select Jokiharju at 29, they may have started a little earlier.
