Speaking of weight, the Big. Nine is available in three frame materials, two of which are carbon while the other is a hydroformed alloy that Merida calls Lite. The carbon frames drop the grams with the CF3 version coming in at 1,100g. Nine 10k, benefits from an even lighter frame, with a claimed weight of 880g. This has been achieved through the use of an even higher quality level of carbon which has allowed the designers to use less of the material without compromising strength or stiffness. Instead of positioning them on the seat tube, Merida has placed them under the top tube so riders can either install long-travel dropper posts or slam their seat posts to accommodate smaller riders. The bike is 1x specific with a 55mm chain line. Of course, this slackens the geometry and shrinks the reach a touch. TR bikes will come with more aggressive tyres and dropper posts as standard and will be available with CF3 carbon or Lite aluminium frames. Outgoing iterations of the bike will not be binned but rather offered at entry-level price points, which marks a clever move — especially given the current cost of living crisis. Merida Big. Ещё одной интересной особенностью рамы оказалась 12 мм ось с шириной дропаута 142 мм. Рама находилась в Питере, но проблем с доставкой не возникло — через Могилёв она благополучно приехала в Гомель. В тягостные дни ожидания я занимался поиском и подбором подходящих компонентов. Основным «ограничителем» была стоимость, за весом сильно не гнался, но обращал внимание при одинаковой стоимости. Большую свинью подкинула задняя ось 142х12 мм, вилсет на которую стоит не так уж дёшево для меня. Потом я ознакомился с каталогом вилок для найнеров с коническим рулевым штоком и 15 мм осью. Чтобы она вписывалась в геометрию XC найнера, уменьшили ход до 110 мм, а заодно переделали в Dual Air. Вроде как неплохие тормоза на минералке, с хорошей модуляцией, должна быть настройка подвода колодок, которой в итоге не оказалось. Переключатели давно было решено брать «верхние середнячки» SLX. Кстати, хочу отметить важную особенность переднего переклюка Top Swing — рамка находится выше хомута. Такая конструкция лучше всего подходит для найнеров с изгибом подседельной трубы. Систему и кассету взял Deore — дёшево и сердито для компонентов, которые первыми идут на замену в связи с износом. Была куплена Alero 142x12 mm с эксцентриком.
